| dc.description.abstract | The year 2016/2017 marks the second year of the implementation of the Strategic Plan, 2015-2020. The Strategy, which was approved by the Board at its meeting in March 2015, is contextualized within the evolving African economic environment and challenges. About thirty years since its establishment, AERC has fostered an enduring, integrated capacity building framework anchored in three pillars: research, collaborative graduate training and policy outreach, complemented by a vast network of institutions, researchers, resource persons, and policy makers. This is its primary niche. This niche has enabled AERC to address the gap between research and policy making, while contributing towards sustainable individual and institutional capacity building. | |
