- ItemLECTURE SERIES IN ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS(AERC, 09/08/2020) AERCOverall, the course seeks to demonstrate how economic techniques covered in the core courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics and quantitative methods are applied to environmental and natural resource policy and research, with special reference to Sub-Saharan Africa. It also seeks to explain the role of environmental economics in the development process in general, and in the integrated management of environmental resources in particular. The specific objectives of the course are to: (a) Expose students to the theories and models of Environmental Economics; (b) Enable students to understand and appreciate linkages between the environment and economics; (c) Help students apply the environmental models to practical situations with specific reference to SubSahara Africa; (d) Acquaint students with the dynamics of global environment and the implications for development in Sub-Sahara Africa.

- ItemMONETARY THEORY AND PRACTICE COURSE OUTLINE(AERC, 09/08/2020) AERCThe purpose of this course is to enable the student to acquire sufficient knowledge of monetary theory and policy. The course content is designed to ensure that the state of the art of monetary theory is given sufficient exposition, while at the same time introducing sufficient doses of policy and empirical topics with special reference to developing countries, in particular African countries. The course adequately prepares the student for advanced research and practice in the area plus policy analysis and implementation
- ItemPUBLIC SECTOR ECONOMICS COURSE OUTLINE(AERC, 2020-08-09) AERCThe course will expose students to the state-of-the-art in public sector economics theory, while drawing on empirical evidence from developed and developing countries. The aim is to develop analytical tools and methods that will enable students to appreciate issues pertaining to public spending, taxation and financing of government. As much as possible, evidence will be drawn from African and other developing countries. By the end of the course the students should be able to: • Discuss critically key issues in public economics, informed by recent research; and • Demonstrate familiarity with a range of public policy issues and relevant analytical and empirical tools.
