Abstract
The overall objective of this course is to provide graduate students with an understanding of environmental economics such that at the end of the course they will be thoroughly familiar with the frontier of science in this special area of Economics so that they can make original contributions to science through their PhD. The specific objectives are to: (i) Expose students to advanced theories and models of Environmental Economics. (ii) Enable students understand and appreciate the environment-economic linkages. (iii) Help students acquire the capacity to apply environmental models to research and policy issues in the area of environmental economics with specific reference to Sub-Saharan Africa (iv) Acquaint students with the dynamics of global environment and the implications for development in Sub-Saharan Africa
